Google Competitive Strategy
So you want to know how to compete in Google. There are three other major search engines, and Yahoo! delivers almost as much traffic as Google does. If you rely on Google alone, you may be reducing your potential market.
The first rule of our Google competitive is simple: do not rely solely on Google. It's okay to start your online marketing plan by focusing on one search engine, but eventually you need to take the other search engines into consideration.
The second rule of our Google competitive strategy is: separate your serious competitors from the secondary competitors. If you have multiple product and services, the odds are pretty good your competition is diverse. You may compete with specialists in some queries and with diverse firms like your own across many. You have to use different marketing strategies. Think of them as different value propositions.
The third rule of our Google competitive strategy is: be different. Anyone can innovate. Everyone should innovate. Most people do not innovate. Regardless of how large your company is, you can bring the power of innovation to your Internet marketing.
Whatever you do, always keep in mind that Google only drives a minority of search traffic, that you may face different levels of search referral competition, and that you need to be unique and innovative in order to capture and maintain search results leadership.
